Research & Project Experience

Parkinson's Disease Intelligent Diagnosis Mar. 2024 – Jul. 2024

Develop binocular 3D human pose estimation algorithms and deploy on Nvidia Jetson computational unit for early diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease.

Research Assistant

  • Deployed state-of-the-art HPE algorithms (e.g., HRNet, ViTPose) on the device and achieved 20–30 FPS.
CVLab Human Motion Dataset Capture Sept. 2022 – Present

Collect a motion capture dataset with novel camera settings, multi-module labels, and rehabilitation-aimed moves.

Research Assistant

  • Designed collecting scenarios, including the largest possible common visible range of all cameras inside the capture room and the corresponding camera setting.
  • Managed labelling process using Vicon motion capture system, including marker set preparation, motion capture process, and label data post-processing.
Huawei Halide Project Sept. 2021 – May 2022

Accelerate OpenCV functions using the Halide framework.

Software Engineer

  • Reimplemented imresize function and achieved ~15× average speed up.
  • Reimplemented KNN-search algorithm and revealed current drawbacks of Halide in implementing tree structures.
  • Met with Huawei staff regularly reporting progress and advising for promoting Halide framework.
Motion Limb Recognition Towards Rehabilitation May 2021 – Sept. 2021

Aid exercise rehabilitation using pose estimation from short-baselined binocular vision.

Research Assistant

  • Designed and implemented the bi-directional conversion between joint positions and BVH data.
  • Proposed virtual joints to ensure uniqueness in the above converting process.
  • Proposed Limited Pictorial Structure Model (LPSM) for short-baseline binocular pose estimation, with an ~87× speed up in MATLAB compared to PSM.
